We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Manager, Analysis, and Insights.
Role Purpose:
In this role, you will support the review, challenge and analysis of regional stress testing and production of scenario analysis exercises. In addition, you will support the enhancement of our projection capabilities across both stress testing and FP&A processes, identify efficiencies including innovative tooling solutions, and reduce risk by improving controls and supporting model governance.
The successful candidate will work regularly with other finance and risk teams in the region such as ALCM, and with counterparts in the Group. The role provides a great opportunity to develop in a key growth market, whilst supporting our strategic and regulatory objectives, and driving our innovation agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and challenge for a range of group and regional stress tests, including robust consolidation and analytical review of outcomes, challenge of projection methodology, assumptions and strategic management actions, and succinct written and verbal reporting to senior management.
• Production of ad-hoc scenario analysis and deep-dives, including both qualitative and quantitative assessment such as from the impact of geopolitical events or sensitivity to key macroeconomic variables.
• Develop insights from stress tests and scenario analysis to support decision making and strategy execution, including stress delta analysis, considerations on profitability / RoTE, risk appetite and business resilience and preparedness.
• Enhance our projection capabilities in both FP&A and Stress Testing through the redesign and build-out of core projection tools, particularly those link FP&A, ALCM and Regulatory teams, exploring the use of central tooling and implementing innovative technology, supporting the development of central regression analysis for multiple use-cases, and simplifying projection methods where appropriate.
• Support our risk, controls and model governance agenda, including the ownership of our model and EUC inventories, monitoring of any issues and remediation of issues and compliance with control standards.
• Enhance control documentation to best practice, performing a read-across with other group entities, and simplifying processes and bases of preparation
Experience and Qualifications:
• Experience in designing consolidated MI and analysis, and proven ability to identify and explain key issues and outcomes succinctly in written format.
• Strong analytical review capabilities, preferably on projections in a Finance or Risk discipline (e.g. FP&A, ALCM, Stress Testing, Risk) with evidence of assessing key assumptions, challenging results against benchmarks, forming judgements and evaluating and communicating outcomes.
• Ability to develop relationships in a matrix organization, and pro-actively identify and progress issues with stakeholders through to resolution suggesting practical solutions.
• Experience in reviewing processes and ability to redesign and implement improvements with the buy-in of stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, demonstrable evidence of exploring innovative technology solutions such as low code tooling (e.g. Anaplan, Xceptor, Alterxy, Python), and a genuine interest on wider technology developments (e.g. GenAI)
• A strong understanding of HSBC’s strategic goals, and how outcomes of planning, forecasting and stress testing processes are used to support strategic and regulatory objectives.
