We are looking to hire an Associate Corporate Counsel / Corporate Counsel to join our Gulf, Eastern Mediterranean and Africa Regions (GEM & Africa) legal team (the “Region”). This role will be based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as needed, and report to the Senior Corporate Counsel who is Head of Legal for the Region. In this role, you will provide legal and administrative support to our Senior Corporate Counsel such as managing legal services, assist with providing legal advice to internal clients, the establishment of alternatives, private equity and public funds in the Region and in the negotiation of contractual terms with third parties. Candidates from other locations who are willing to relocate to Dubai are also welcomed.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
- Assist in structuring and documenting regulated funds from pre-launch to post-closing across the Region.
- Assist with the establishment of Alternatives, and/or Private Equity Funds in multiple jurisdictions across the Region including but not limited to assisting with the drafting and review of fund documents and ancillary agreements.
- Assist with public funds establishment, registration and ongoing regulatory filings in the Region.
- Support Senior Corporate Counsel with institutional clients onboarding, including review and negotiation of IMAs.
- Assist with the review of financial services agreements.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments in the Region and assess advocacy opportunities.
- Provide administrative support in all aspects of the delivery of legal services which includes coordination of payment of legal invoices and expenses for the legal team.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws and regulations across the Region.
What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
- Degree from reputable law school and distinguished academic and professional experience.
- Common law (England and Wales/Canada/US/) qualified lawyer.
- A minimum of 2-3 years PQE in financial services. Experience with private and public funds in private practice is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of legal customs/practices for examining, organizing, processing legal documents.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Analytical, proactive, and meticulous with a keen eye for detail.
- Able to multi-task multiple projects in multiple jurisdictions.
- Understanding of the asset management business.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Adaptability and openness to working in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
