Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Bid Writer to join its Bid Studio team! As a Bid Writer you will collaborate with Capture Managers, Proposal Managers, Technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and all other members of a proposal team to write compliant, compelling, responsive proposals in response to customer solicitations. You’ll be successful in this job if you are comfortable interviewing SMEs—steering the conversation and asking the questions needed to respond to solicitation requirements—and then converting that interview content into prose that sells.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Proofreads and performs routine editorial functions, including formatting and stylesheet verification, copy editing, and some production planning.
  • Ensures compliance of all assigned documents with their required presentation, correct use of paragraph headings and numbering, referencing of illustrative and tabular matter, and applicable bibliographic styles.
  • Ensures consistency in application of technical abbreviations and acronyms, figure and table callouts and captions, and handling of boilerplate materials.
  • Compiles and verifies tables of content, lists of figures and tables, references, and printer’s dummy. Marks copy to provide word processors and graphic designers with clear, legible instructions relating to spacing, indentation, and changes or corrections.
  • Conducts research in the preparation of copywriting assignments and verification of acronyms, terms, etc.
  • Assists in the development of drafts and revisions for marketing collateral, Web sites, scripts, white papers, and other internal and external promotional and informational content.
  • Works directly with senior technical editors or authors/requestors to review copy, illustrations, and other materials submitted for inclusion in assigned documents. Recommends improvements for accuracy of expression, project or company style, clarity, consistency, and grammatical construction. May recast text subject to review by the author/requestor.
  • Assists in coordinating specific document production schedules by working with other technical writer/editors, authors/requesters, and required technical publications resources. Reviews and verifies materials after reproduction to ensure conformance to the printer’s dummy.
  • Serves as part of a functional team or works independently to complete assignments according to scheduled deadlines.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position, as appropriate.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of related writing/rewriting experience, e.g., proposal resumes, past performance citations, or response to RFIs and white papers
  • Detail oriented and fastidious with compliance
  • Ability to utilize latest AI technology to optimize bid writing and content creation
  • Ability to interview Subject Matter Experts to get the information needed for a section and then translate technical information into proposal content
  • Ability to utilize AI platforms to optimize the bid writing
  • Comfortable collaborating with people from a variety of disciplines
  • Confident interrupting and asking questions to ensure understanding
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review proposals for typographical, spelling, grammatical, punctuation, acronym call out, sentence structure, and active/passive voice
  • Understanding of the full Government proposal lifecycle RFP release to submission
  • Expertise in understanding and adhering to proposal instructions and evaluation criteria contained in Government solicitations
  • Ability to support a flexible and occasional extended work schedule
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to multitask, supporting multiple projects at once and quickly shifting priorities
  • Experience with Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
