Porter
Job Description
Collect and return patients from receiving area to OR room safely.
Collect and transfer the patient’s bed through to the theatre area when required.
Dispatching specimens to Laboratory if and when required.
Collect urgent items required from Main store in the hospital and maintain OR consumable stock accurately
Maintain consumable & Equipment store area in a clean and tidy condition.
Maintain cleaning equipment, reporting faults or damage to the OR In-charge as they occur.
Help all visiting personnel
Move and clean theatre table and patient trolleys at the end of surgeries for cleaning and carbolization.
Collect sharps containers and dispose of and replace appropriately as per policy.
Promote good relationships, communication and teamwork with all disciplines within the department and within the hospital.
Maintain policies relating to Health & Safety, correct theatre dress and confidentiality.
Answer the telephones at busy times or as and when necessary.
Always demonstrate a caring manner towards patients and after full training assist the nursing staff with lifting, turning and positioning of patients as necessary.
Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
