The Vice President, Global Industries (CGIVP) is responsible for i) leading business development with global clients; ii) managing IFC’s global sector communities of practice; iii) supporting operational process simplification; and iv) collaborating closely across the World Bank Group to align sector strategies, to contribute lessons from IFC operations, to support policy/sector reforms, and to implement the Cascade approach. CGIVP oversees the Operations Management and Corporate Portfolio Departments as well as all Global Industry Departments, which include Disruptive Technologies, Services, and Funds; Climate Business; Energy and Mining; Financial Institutions; Infrastructure; Manufacturing and Agribusiness; and Trade and Supply Chain Finance.

The (Associate) Investment officer will work closely with the global head of business development and client coverage in Dubai and industry teams to support business development and build and maintain strong relationships with global clients in the UAE to develop specific investment opportunities. S/he will work on the development of engagement plans for global clients, Insutional Investors and Sovereign Wealth Funds together with industries, credit, ESG, and other relevant groups, detailing IFC’s coverage approach; Stay abreast of the latest market and industry trends and generate co-investment opportunities and support of Relationship Managers and Industry teams, he/she will:

Duties and Accountabilities: 

• Contribute to the development of a client engagement strategy.
• Support the global head in developing and managing relationships with key clients and other stakeholders.
• Closely coordinate with the industry departments to provide strategic advice to clients.
• Closely work with clients to implement the client engagement strategy and follow-ups and stay attuned to client needs across products and industries.
• Monitor and analyze market and industry developments and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the competitive landscape. 
• Work on client mapping and screening.
• Work on client briefs, memos and analytical reports. 
• Participate in client meetings and coordinate the preparation of presentations and follow-ups and minutes.
• Develop and maintain a sound understanding of WBG’s and especially IFC’s products, services, and priorities.
• Help build a dialogue with strategic clients and counterparts at other DFIs at the technical levels.

Selection Criteria

• Must have obtained an MBA or Master’s degree in business, finance, or economics;
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in business consulting, project finance, investment banking, and/or infrastructure economics, with good knowledge, networks, and credibility within the business and governmental communities, 
• Demonstrate strong analytical and writing skills;
• Ability to work independently in a challenging environment.
• Experience in dealing with government clients, investors, and multiple stakeholders. Experience in working with UAE private sector and/or sovereign wealth funds.  
• Strong financial and modeling skills; sound business judgment; ability to find creative solutions to accommodate different interests. 
• Experience in reviewing legal documents and/or technical studies will be a plus;
• Proficiency in English; Arabic is Plus
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral, including the ability to convey ideas and positions clearly;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish, develop and manage relationships internally and externally;
• Willingness to travel;
• Motivated and enthusiastic about the opportunities and challenges in Emerging and Developing Countries.
