Civil Discipline Lead (Water Infrastructure)

Description:

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

The role involves working on projects associated with wet infrastructure, i.e. wastewater, stormwater, potable water and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment system, and flood management and associated infrastructure such as pump stations.

This will involve undertaking field visits, investigations, data collection, planning, hydraulic modeling support, master planning, design development, report writing, preparation of tender documents, technical specifications and BOQs.

Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited:

1.\tLead and manage technical delivery of the technical aspects of a project life cycle;

•\tProvide technical inputs into bids including developing technical content as required

•\tDevelop engineering manhours and manage engineering budgets

•\tManage and oversee project engineering activities

•\tManage engineering schedule and support project managers as required

•\tMulti-discipline project coordination and interface management

•\tEnsure Stantec QA / QC processes are strictly followed

•\tLead client interfaces related to technical aspects of projects

•\tSupport staff capability development

2.\tLeading preparation of concept, preliminary and detailed designs for wet infrastructure including;

•\tDesign briefs and Basis of Design technical notes

•\tDesign calculations

•\tDesign reports

•\tDesign drawings production

•\tSpecifications and bill of quantities

3.\tCollaboration and working as part of a team;

•\tWork in conjunction with peer to overcome project design challenges and share lessons learnt on projects

•\tLiaise with other discipline leads and/or teams working remotely from other regions to facilitate completion of project tasks

•\tMentor and support junior members of the team

•\tLiaise with and manage sub-consultants and sub-contractors delivery to facilitate completion of project tasks

4.\tFollow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner;

•\tComplete all work in line with Stantec’s Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec’s Quality Systems, Project Quality procedures and Health & Safety procedures.

•\tDesign for safety

5.\tClient Services and Stakeholders Management;

•\tOrganise and attend meetings with clients to collect data and discuss technical solutions and options

•\tAttend meetings with stakeholders and follow up on NOCs for utility corridors where required

Qualifications:

Personal Specifications and Qualifications:

•\tBachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering (or related) from a recognised university

•\t15+ Years of experience in design of wet infrastructure projects

•\tDemonstrable experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams

•\tWorking knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, InfoWater, InfoSewer, WaterGems, SewerGems, InfoWorks ICM, InfoWorks WS, etc Client specific requirements

•\tProfessional accreditation (Chartership/PE or equivalent) from internationally recognised engineering institutions such as ICE, CIWEM, Engineer Australia, etc., or working towards it

•\tExperienced with wet infrastructure design standards in GCC Countries

•\tExperienced with local and international guidelines/standards/codes and technical specifications for the design of wet infrastructure

•\tAbility to work on bids to develop technical methodology and estimation of level of effort and identification of resources

•\tInternational working experience, e.g. GCC Region, Europe, North America (preferred)

•\tExcellent command in English both written and spoken

•\tArabic language skills (preferred)

•\tAbility to manage a heavy workload, with close attention to detail

•\tAbility to make decisions independently and strong problem resolutions skills

•\tStrong team working capabilities, committed to working with all levels of management on a daily and ongoing basis

•\tProactive, working effectively in coordinating activities and complex tasks, taking professional responsibility and ownership

•\tPunctual, attentive and competent in adhering to Stantec’s policies, procedures and work practices
