Cluster Operations Manager
Specific Areas of Responsibility-
- Financial performance of the contract, including revenue, OPEX, capitalised maintenance & repair and overheads
- Plan, execute and evaluate business and operational strategies to maximize the value of Svitzer’s business in the assigned geography and operations.
- Leverage, facilitate and prioritise the Maersk Transport & Logistics Division’s Business Units cooperation to secure new revenue streams and integrated deals where appropriate.
- Lead and manage an engaged onshore and offshore organisation, developing performing staff and supporting and initiating fair consequences for those who are not.
- Continuously drive operational excellence and customer focused solutions in terms of timely, reliable and safe service.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers and other stakeholders and authorities.
- Promote an unrivalled security and safety environment in the Svitzer organization, making Safety and Security a competitive advantage for Svitzer (“Do it Safely or Not at All”).
- Promote an industry-leading safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and policies.
- Ensure adherence to all regional operational procedures and work practices
- Ensure that all employees of the company you lead understand and adhere to Svitzer guidelines, authorities and policies.
- Drive cost efficiency in all administrative, operational and technical expenditure.
- Provide management oversight for Technical Supt wrt M&R spend and dockings (every 5 years).
- Implement best practise standards for finance and operations, as communicated by Svitzer Group and/or AMEA Region.
- Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements for the local operation, in co- operation with AMEA Region Legal Counsel and Regional Functional specialists.
- In co-ordination with the Regional CFO, maintain an efficient financial organisation to secure financial transparency, reporting and analysis.
- Ensure that vessels are manned and equipped according to legal requirements and Svitzer standards for relevant operational activities.
- The role will include on board assessment of all crew for the purposes of mandatory evaluation in terms of company management systems (HMS) requirements and to assess training and development needs of the officers and crew. Delivery of training on board the vessels will cover ship handling, company management systems and Svitzer internal training courses.
- The Cluster Operations and Training Manager will be expected to travel extensively to each port throughout the AMEA region. It is envisaged he will remain on board where the operation permits and work on a daily basis within the rules of the working time directive when remaining on board is unachievable.
- The Cluster Operations and Training Manager will conduct a peer review of the individual with a view to assisting the masters where necessary in accomplishing any operational items from the on-board assessment which have not been achieved then the training master will give guidance support and training to achieve their goals.
- The Cluster Operations and Training Manager will be responsible for developing and improving the existing training programme for all crews.
Training / Competencies:-
- A seasoned marine services Training manager with a proven record of successful management of operations servicing the Harbour Towage industry.
- MUST be in possession of a valid Masters CoC and be an experienced Tug Master with specific experience on ASD tugs in the Harbour Towage environment.
- A financially literate business leader with project implementation experience preferred
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant business or marine management.
- Strong business acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to influence and engage. An organiser
- Nuanced and effective stakeholder management up to national Port authorities and Client’s Senior to Executive management level.
- Sound financial management knowledge and analytical skills, structured and data driven
- Proven experience in Project Management
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to deal with people at a broad range of levels.
- High level of professionalism, honesty and integrity
- Excellent organisational, time management and planning skills The ability to think conceptually while managing the detail
- Strong understanding of change management and the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure
